      J. F. WILCOXSON, eldest child of Lewis and Nancy (Miles) Wilcoxson, was
      born in Shelby County, September 1, 1830. His father was born in Woodford
      County, and is a son of Daniel and Sallie (Falkner) Wilcoxson. His
      mother was born in Shelby County, a daughter of Samuel and Annie (Lewis)
      Miles. J. F. Wilcoxson received a good common-school education, at an
      early age commenced to teach school, and taught about five years in
      Anderson, Franklin and Shelby Counties. On October 27, 1863, he opened a
      general store in Christiansburg, and has been actively engaged in
      merchandising ever since. He is also railroad agent, Adams Express agent,
      and keeps a livery stable. On August 23, 1866, he married Miss Bettie
      Mehornay, of Shelby County, daughter of J. C. Mehornay. Five children
      blessed this union, all living: Annie, wife of Henry H. Roberts; Julius,
      a promising young man, born December 16, 1869, is clerk for his father
      in the store, also assistant railroad and express agent; Bion, born
      November 30, 1871, attending school; Victor, born December 27, 1875,
      attending school, and Bettie M. Mr. Wilcoxson is a notary public and
      deputy county clerk. He is one of the leading men of Shelby County. As a
      citizen he is popular and public-spirited, and enjoys the respect and
      confidence of all who know him. He is industrious, energetic and
      pains-taking, and is held in high esteem.
