RANDOLPH WALKER, a native of Virginia, and his wife, Betsey Harris, settled in Woodford County,
in 1790, and were the parents of seven children: John, William, Randolph, Jr., Mary (Mrs. V.
Boggers), Elizabeth (Mrs. David Egbert), Sarah (Mrs. James Frazier) and Nancy (Mrs. Patterson,
of Fayette County). Randolph Walker, Jr., was born in Virginia in 1777. He subsequently settled
in Franklin County, now Anderson County, Ky., where his son, Monroe, now resides on the Lawrence-
burg and Lexington Pike about two miles from Lawrenceburg. He married Miss Polly Hoblitt of
Pennsylvania, who died in 1862. He died in 1837. They had ten children: Merritt, Randolph,
Porter C., Warfield, WIlliam, Monroe, Maria (Mrs. D. George), Artemesia (Mrs. James Ripy),
Lucretia (Mrs. Jeremiah Posey), and Sarah (Mrs. John Walker). Monroe Walker was born May 14,
1826, on the homestead where he now resides. He received his education in the common schools
of the county, and in 1848 engaged in the manufacture of whisky [sic], continuing in the business
for some ten years. Mr. Walker is at present engaged in the wholesaling of whiskies [sic], and
in general farming, owning 170 acres. He married, in 1847, Miss Vienna McMichaels, of Mercer
County, and to this union have been born three children: William P., Joseph R., and Laura J.
(Mrs. A. H. Turner).
