The story is told in a book written by Richard Armstrong
*this is just the basics
On September 26, 1839, Mary sent her son Henry to assist her brother Adam, who was ill. On September 28, 1839, Rachel Abel (Adam's wife) came to visit Mary and found Andrew on the bed covered with blood, she found Mary in an adjoining blood splattered room - beheaded and her mutilated body on the floor. Mary was laid to rest the evening she was found.
Andrew, her husband was arrested after they found his bloody clothes, knife and ax.
He escaped, remarried and murdered his new wife Malinda Hinkle on March 22, 1843, she was pregnant at the time,
he decapitated her, dismembered her body and buried the parts - except the head which he burned beyond recognition.
He was tried by the Supreme Court and was sentenced to death by hanging, he was executed January 12, 1844
