    FROM: HISTORY OF ANDERSON COUNTY - BOOK 2

    Admitted to pratice law May 3, 1855. Judge Posey also taught school in his younger years. He entered politics in 1867, He was deputy clerk for eight years, he also served as Superintendent of Schools in the county. In 1892 he was stamp deputy under Cleveland for four years and was County Judge for 10 years. Judge Posey was the first man in the south to defeat a Confederate soldier for office, winning over Capt. W.E. Bell who was just back from war.

    On the 21st day of November, 1870 was amoung others named "Trustees of the Baptist Church of Jesus Christ commonly known as the United Baptist" in Lawrenceburg Main & Madison (Lot no 31 on plot map) was destoyed by high winds and later burned down in January 1924. Rebuilt in modern style
